The practicing begins

Today, we ran out of daylight getting the spot ready for my son’s specialty – the garden.

This suburban girl has never been so near a working tractor!  What fun that was! I’m sure later it will feel like work, but right now it’s just kind of cool.  So, we are starting small and working to do it right.  Trying to be good stewards of the land and grow something healthy for our family and hopefully someone else’s as well.

It all seemed a bit scary when we were looking at Google images of the acres and trying to figure out where everything was going to go.  Today, it just seems natural to pick a spot for the garden based on where the sun shines and a site for camp where it doesn’t shine too much.

I missed the rest of the family today, but it was good to get the two youngest girls really involved in the process.  They helped set some fence posts today and lay out plastic.  For city girls, they did pretty good!

Second round of pizza, pizza before a much deserved rest.  So, a minute to blog, a quick indulgence into ancestry then I’m off to bed to make more fence tomorrow.  We will see if I still think all of this is fun when we add the barbed wire!

Hope to get the whole crew out here soon.  Lots to get done tomorrow to get ready for the whole family to be able to spend time at our little “farm camp”.
