A watched pot . . .

A watched pot never boils!

Working on bank loans and waiting to finally walk into our farm.  I was a bit reluctant in this search for a farm, the thought of more work, the change in my otherwise settled life.  But, God has moved and we have found a farm that we both love.  So, I am excited.  Don’t tell Jim!

It’s funny, even though I enjoyed working, even though I was only occasionally in my life what my sister jokingly refers to as “domesticated – like a cow” – I am most looking forward to baking bread, cooking food that we grow or raise, canning,  . . . you know – the girl stuff!   I have no desire to be a part of hunting deer or processing chickens, but I would love to gather eggs and use food that we know to make things truly from scratch.  Those who know me and my aversion to actually cooking dinner every day can laugh out loud!

So, while we are waiting on a closing date, I am working to learn a lot about a lot.  I am canning out of the ugly garden and trying to do what I know and expand what I know.  I have watched endless hours of An American Homestead and Becky’s Homestead among others.

We are also wearing the real estate girls out wanting to go back and look “just one more time”.  It is beginning to feel real, like I might be becoming a farmer soon.
