Farming is for families

This is my FAVORITE time of the year!  I LOVE fall!  I love the way that one day I am driving this road, the same road I have driven a thousand times this past year, and suddenly the beauty of the scene explodes and just takes my breath away.  I just want to stop in the middle of the road and soak it in.  I don’t, but I want to.  The trees are changing and the scene is different every day!  img_14211

This weekend, we lightened up a bit on the work.  We still did work on the farm – there is so much to do!  But, we also took some time to enjoy a few meals with some of the larger family, play a little Bocci ball, hike around the farm a bit, and sit around the fire.  It was crazy with kids everywhere, but it was nice.img_15381img_14351img_15171

I was so glad to have Lindsay and Adam and the kids up for an overnight!  It all just means more when everybody gets to enjoy it together.  And, having Adam at the farm definitely brings a new flavor to the activities!  We let the teenagers and big kids have a little pellet gun battle!  They seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves and they made great use of the barn yard!  You know when I was a kid a BB gun was a serious weapon, so my initial response was probably “mother-in-law-ish”, but once I realized the “BBs” were not brass, it was much more enjoyable to watch!img_15411

My farmer man still worked himself silly.  Jeremy and Jennifer still worked hard to keep up with him.  We still had help from our favorite tractor man, we still made the kids work a bit.  But, we are trying to learn to work AND enjoy ourselves.  So, we mixed it up a bit.img_15551

I always LOVE being at the farm.  Sometimes it is noisy and full of life, sometimes it is quiet and a time of reflection.  But it is always somewhere I am glad I get to be.  Can’t wait to have EVERYONE there!

Now . . . on to the soccer game!
