Real time at the farm

This past week has been the very first week that we have been free to spend completely at the farm.  We have been driving back and forth for several months now.  I so enjoyed NOT driving back and forth for a few days.  I enjoyed several days with just the two younger girls, unplugged, quiet and available.  Nice!  We made some home made Christmas ornaments for the farm tree.  We had unhurried time to just hang out and talk.  It was a great relaxing time.img_25771

The kids and grandkids straggled up over the next few days allowing me to enjoy the kids/grandkids without rushing around packing or unpacking – or feeding the wood chipper.  I got to watch my son-in-law teach my grandson how to flip a pancake.  We baked, we talked, we toasted marshmallows – which we then had a war with.  We just enjoyed the laid-backedness of the farm.  img_25101

I also had the added bonus of a visit from my great friend and a hike around the acres.  A few minutes of uninterrupted friend time is a precious gem!  I love her and am being a great friend by keeping my mid-hike selfie/group selfie to myself.

I can say that I understand why my husband had such a desire for the farm.  There is something amazing about looking out the back window at land instead of houses.  There is something calming about a quiet evening without television.  Apparently I like goats well enough.  But, I do miss internet.  I need it to do this blogging, my ancestry habit – I mean, hobby, and generally keep in touch with the outside world.  I don’t mind going off-grid for a few days, a week, but two weeks is pushing it.  I think we will work toward internet for the summer months.  So maybe I won’t put out three blog entries at a time!

Now I’m done – I think!
