People who know Farmer Man know how fond he is of Lowe’s. I have often accused him of just making up reasons to go to Lowe’s. He acts like it’s some kind of torture to stand for an hour in the plumbing aisle, but I think he likes it!
Ah, the barn! Center of the farm! Best part of farm pictures! Needs the most work!
See in the picture below: On the right side of the photo there is a very crooked post. Not too great if you want your barn to stay upright.

In this photo, it shows a board that was supposed to be holding up the hay floor!

So, obviously – at least when you look up close – the barn needed some work done. Farmer man has been tinkering in there for months now. I suspected he was just hibernating up there when the farm was full of people and noise. But, it seems he was actually busy “straightening” up the old barn.
I’m pretty sure that in heaven Jim’s house will need something done to it. Not because God isn’t perfectly able to provide the best dwelling, but because Farmer Man seems to need at least one project to work on to be truly happy! I’m not at all sure that need wasn’t the whole driving force behind the search for a farm to begin with! At least right now, the project and all the associated sawing, dust, tools etc. are located at the barn and well away from where we have to cook, eat, and live – that will change soon enough. I’ve been married a long time to Farmer Man, I know what is coming!
I am actually pretty proud of the structural thinking of my husband! He is actually quite gifted at fixing structures and creative solutions! So the barn looks a little more secure, the “post” (and I use that term very loosely) has been replaced, and we have moved into the – how do we want to re-create this space – stage. Do we want to keep the “old barn” feel and use only old barn wood, do we prefer the flexibility of well placed new gates? Which way will it end up? It keeps our minds busy and gives us something to talk about, and another reason to go to Lowe’s and it’s new friend Tractor Supply. We are also learning to use the local farm store more and build some business relationships. Either way, I see construction as a constant in my life at this point and I enjoy it as much as I can! There really is something about watching something or even someone become something better.
