Our family is CRAZY! No matter what we are doing, it is loud with lots of activity. Someone spilling something, someone settling a dispute, someone trying (in vain) to find a quiet corner . . .
Life changes are coming – again. My daughter, her husband, and four children are beginning a new adventure – away from here. So, we took serious advantage of the last full weekend they would be here and had a fun farm weekend. I think it is the first weekend where no real work occurred. This was only possible because farmer man had to work his “real” job last Saturday. While the cat’s away . . .
So, we didn’t have everybody, but we did have all the grandkids at the farm last weekend. We decided to do some fun stuff. It was our normal brand of loud and crazy. We went to my sister’s farm to let the kids ride and play with the goats. We made noise, and we made memories.
They left on their adventure this past Saturday morning. The normal volume of the farm was dampened, the messes didn’t grow quite as quickly, the muck boots stayed in the right place – in the bucket in the garage. We had dinner out with my sister and got to ride horses ourselves.
But, this is only okay for a little while. I will enjoy hearing about their adventures – which SOMEONE better blog about – and have a little adult time. I’ll spend some extra time with my younger daughters, let them show off their origami skills.

I will spend some time with my other two grandchildren, developing a relationship with them separate from the “herd” that normally runs together.

But, pretty soon, I will expect a visit – a loud, messy, exuberant visit from my adventurers! Only because that is possible – I will enjoy this season.

Adventure on my babies, Grandma will see you soon. Hopefully by the time you visit something will be growing in the garden, we will have a few more goats to love, we will be heading toward a better loaf of bread, and maybe we will even have some chickens to lay eggs. Wait, better not wait that long! Hahahaha!
