It is about to be canning time!

It has been a relatively quiet few weeks here at the farm.   The teenagers are off on adventures, the kids have given me and farmer man a bit of a rest from the “crowd”, and while it hasn’t been without some work days – it has been a bit of a rest.   We are always working on the next place to put fence, Bernie came over and did a little field clearing for us – which was amazing!, and I have even been able to squeeze in a selfish little expedition to Athens, Ohio for ancestry.  (I need a whole ‘nother blog for that saga!)

Rest is great.  The house is no cleaner, but my soul has finally taken a bit of a breather!

Well, it is time for all of that to end!  The tomatoes are coming in up the hill in the messy garden, I will have one set of grandkids tomorrow and the rest are coming down Wednesday, the teenagers will be returning this week and my life will again be on the fast track.

Always farm chores to do!

I didn’t quite get the garden in well enough to provide everything for the spaghetti sauce, but I will have peppers, onions, tomatoes, a little garlic, and basil.  I will have to buy oregano and supplement the onions.  Like most things, the garden didn’t quite live up to the picture in my head.  The plants went a little wild while we were busy running fence and teenagers, but I am looking forward to making my own spaghetti sauce and canning up tomatoes – if I can keep farmer man from eating every single one of them before I get the chance!  I will also do salsa, but that will require some more shopping.  I think if I can time it right I will have enough to do both.  Spaghetti sauce one day and salsa a few days later.

Thank You Lord for times of rest and times of full to overflowing.  Thank You for my family close and far.  Thank You for helping my veggies and animals grow and thrive in spite of me.  Thank You for moments when I can feel Your presence.  Please help us to be good stewards of what You have entrusted to us.
