Hanging out at Curvy Creek Farm

The babies are growing!  I promise to get a video of all of the babes playing together without the mommas.  We have only tried that once so far, and it was fun to watch!

Ruby and babies 2

Aren’t these goats cute!  Yes!  And Ruby is a good Momma!  One of her little girls kept finding a way past the hay bale we were using as a wall and through the larger holes in the fence.  So, I spent an hour attaching mesh to a 4ft section of the stall front.  Why did it take an hour?  Well, because I had so much help!  As I was “sewing” the mesh onto the fence section with wire, I had Cookies and Cream (the cat) on my shoulder with her tail in front of my eyes and Apollo (goat baby #1) running and head butting my back or walking through the wire and making a mess.  It’s kind of like putting together a kitchen set with three toddlers – not impossible, but not for the impatient!

trying to put mesh up

I have been so busy wrestling the right goats to the right place and making sure everyone has unfrozen water and a warm place to grow that video just hasn’t been on my mind.   (At least until I’m on my way back down the hill, exhausted, but frustrated that I didn’t take the phone with me!)  I think it is supposed to get to 50 degrees later this week.   A play date is brewing for the 6 littles!  Thank You Lord for heated buckets, a tank de-icer, and heat lamps!!!  And mesh to keep the littles safely with their mommas!

With a barn full of babies, a field full of snow, and a few hours of calm – I decided to work on my bread baking skills.  I enjoyed the fact that I could make bread and spaghetti from scratch.  Hopefully, I will work on making the noodles next – after I get an accessory for that Kitchen Aid that Farmer man bought for me.

The rolls turned out nice, and the pepperoni rolls just need a little bit of tweaking!

While I was all cozy in the house, Farmer man was busy cutting trees in the wet sloppy weather.  Not because he has to, but because he wants to.  This weekend, he cut down the big pine tree on Beyond the Pond Hill.  It was a nice place marker for photos, but the view just opens up and the farm becomes more of a farm with every day of work he puts in.

He was quite happy to come in to spaghetti made from scratch, home made hot rolls and a cup of hot tea.  We aren’t always this “50s”, or this sappy.  Yesterday, while the rest of the world was getting ready for some football, we were happy and content to enjoy a cozy evening with a home cooked meal.  One day, we will have a fireplace or a wood stove to add to the ambiance.  I am thankful for an evening of rest!
