Just keep farmin’. . .

Some days Farm life and other life just collide and become a bit of a tangled barbed wire!  But, no matter how varied my activities may be, there is always God and always blessing.  God is often in the details – such as my daughter already having the day off that we were asked to sing at the funeral of a dear family friend; or somehow making it possible that we could check on a whimpy goat, call the vet, go to three different locations for medications and supplies, take care of the whimpy goat and the rest of the barn, and still make it back to the other house with ALL of the singers at the piano for practice.  It was another one of the moments when all 6 kids were in the same house – never escapes my notice!  (And seldom happens without a scheduling nightmare)  Now, life isn’t without it’s challenges, I did accidentally hang up on our pastor’s wife when she called in the middle of practice (with the surrounding grandkids playing noise).  Many apologies were made, and she is apparently forgiving!  hahahahaha

We had a family work day enjoying one nice sunny afternoon burning brush and enjoying the improved view that our work is making possible.  Many hands make lighter work.

working on the hill

Seems to be true enough.  But I wonder who worked more? . . . let’s look at those work gloves . . .

Just kidding, hers are just newer!  –  I think

I got out of  hillside work a little early to enjoy a visit from my WV BFF!  I rather enjoyed showing her around the farm, introducing her to the new goats, and showing her the progress.  Of course, she hid from the camera, so I got to grab a photo of her kiddo enjoying the farm!  Sometimes one good conversation between us helps us survive parenting another day!

Meeting the neighbor’s chickens – which are still alive!!!  Yay, to the next gen brand new farmers!!!  Quick side story – There are 30 chicks.  Only ONE is named.  All but 6 of these chicks are egg layers.  Which one did the kids name?  A meat chicken!  Brittany is so named because she has blonde hair and eye-liner.  (We have a 3 generation BFF situation.  Me and Barb, Jennifer and Brittany, and Noah and Brooklyn)  Apparently, the kids think that Brittany the chicken favors Brittany the BFF)  Even I can pick her out, and they all look pretty alike to me!  Won’t be having that one for dinner!

I’ll let Brittany decide if there is some resemblance!  Both girls are holding Brittany – I think!

After a couple of days of hard work, sometimes it is a refreshing change to stay indoors and just enjoy the white blanketed view!  At least this time we had power, water, and heat!  It is a beautiful place and we are blessed to be able to be the caretakers for a while!  God is good!
