For the last couple of weeks, my life has been a little more satin and makeup than chickens and goats. Honor banquets, prom, and heading toward graduation have filled my days and evenings. It has been nice to live a couple of weeks a little more focused in one area!
It is so hard to get my mother into a photo! (She might kill me, but it was worth it!)
But, we know that farm life doesn’t really stop for anybody! So, in my absence the boys have been working (at least a little bit) on the farm. I was pretty sure Farmer man was headed for actual depression when his chainsaw had to be put in the shop for a week! But, he has it back now, so all is right with the world.

I so enjoyed a hike the other day to soak in the changes that have been made over the last winter. The trees are starting to leaf in, so this view will not last much longer. Farmer man has made such great progress!
The season is changing which is great! Spring is finally here, the rain has given us a reprieve, I haven’t heard snow mentioned in about a week. So, the outdoor season has arrived. Along with it – a little too much wind to entertain the idea of burning piles. I have heard of several brush fires turning into mountainside fires, so as much as I am heeded from an hour away – I say no burning right now! It might be hard to console the farm workers, they love dragging trees and burning so much! (Strongly implied sarcasm and eye roll)

Curvy Creek Farm is a great farm name! When we set out looking for a farm (chronicled in the early blog entries) we had a few criteria in mind. One of the big items we looked for was land with a creek. I LOVED playing in the creek when I was young – though otherwise I was a bit prissy. We have a beautiful little curvy creek running all through the farm. Great! Except it is taking a toll on our little cross bridge to the barn. So the boys have worked a bit this week to fix the issue.
What a great way to use some of those tree trunks we seem to be collecting! Now, for a gravel truck!
Duck arrival!
So far, I have only enjoyed the arrival of our ducks through the photos! I can’t wait to go see how they are doing in our tiny, little, “needs a lot of love” pond. Folks say that they will improve our pond – here’s hoping! Thank you grandchildren for raising some beautiful ducks for Grandma Punkin’s pond! (I need to make a Punkin’s Pond sign!)
The farm has continued to be busy even without me. Hopefully, I will be able to plant some things this weekend. I have never grown corn before, I am looking forward to an ear of corn I raised myself.
While the cat’s away, apparently the boys (and the daughter neigbors) can handle the farm! Thanks guys! Nice to be able to trust that the farm is in good hands while we concentrate on “girl world” a bit!
