After being chased by the back end of a calf last week, I was pretty sure that there should be a national holiday complete with cake and ice cream and fireworks when we finally managed to give a 500 pound calf a shot. I’m actually sorry we didn’t have a photo of the process because it was a great display of teamwork and ingenuity! It also required the full strength of all involved! But, it has been done and may need done again. We fed him some fancy grain, coaxed him into a corner, squeezed him between the gate and the barn and did our best to hold him still while Farmer man gave the shot!

In other Farming news:
We have one broody chicken – so maybe the neighbors will expand their flock a bit in a couple of weeks. Lessons for homeschool!
We tried to help my sister with Hay Day. The addage “Make hay while the sun shines” is made much clearer when one is trying to pull bales out of a field before the rain hits! This summer three days of sunshine in a row have been hard to come by! We got in what we could, but we weren’t able to get it all. Frustrating, but still an interesting process to be involved with. Again, Thank YOU GOD!!! for the willingness of neighbors to share equipment – like a hay elevator!

Still enjoying the new farm equipment – sometimes the backroad scenic route is the best!
Soccer is still going strong and we are still the soccer-mom van!

Not all the work is on the farm – the kids are working on a “flip house”. We stopped by to share a little wisdom and see the progress! This is a little more in our comfort zone!

Getting prepared to sing at an upcoming fall festival! Lindsay and the kids were up this weekend so we had some practice time and some family time. Noise, mess, good food, laughter, cousins, and a little bit of worship! And for those who wanted to see our late-night, tired from three hours of practice faces – here ya go! And, just to keep it real – I sent the one where we all get the giggles! Because that is just how it goes!
