Peace in the midst . . .

Everyone has their place of peace.  I actually have a few.  But, as a couple, our blood pressure lowers and our minds refocus when we take a few days to put everything in a better perspective – Ahhhhhhhmish country!  (that was the actual name of our room!)

Ahhhhhmish country

These are the panoramic vistas that started it all, the search for our own farm, the yearning for a focus on something a little less temporal and a little more “down to earth”.  So before we spent a whole week working our behinds off, we decided to take a few deep breaths in one of our favorite places.

Then the work began!   A RENTED tractor

We worked on the big project – which while it may BE progress, certainly just feels like a way to muddy up the place.

We have worked on the bridge to the barn – which THANKFULLY we can now walk across and drive the lawnmower across again!  There is always something to be thankful for!

A little unplanned detour – Thank You Lord for keeping my son safe

Thankful he's okay

We prepared for Thanksgiving, and enjoyed as much family as we could gather together!  We missed a few and welcomed some new faces!  36 people – at the big house, the farm house was a little too MESSY!

Jim’s brother Bill is teaching us how to process deer.  While many of my cousins have always hunted and almost every single neighbor, we have not.  So far we have processed three deer.  I am not too thrilled about killing an animal, but I do like to eat, and thinning the deer population at the farm will help cut down on the goats getting sick.  I am for that!

The projects will continue for a while, the work will continue forever, but hopefully the few days of peace and the focus on Thankfulness will carry us through the next few months of the tough stuff.

There is a reason this sign hangs over the door that overlooks the barn and acres!

reminding ourselves

Onward!
