Lots of life!

Now that we are headed for a (hopefully) quick closing on the pretty house, life has been pushing the speed limit a bit!

Packing boxes and sorting everything we own into: farm house, girls apartment, give away, throw away, store until the farm house is more ready, send back to the original owner . . .

Finally had the appraisal done today, so we don’t have to keep it so fantasically clean during the process! Most trips to the farm are now done in a van that is at least partially full of boxes.

A neighboring cow decided to visit for a bit and gave our new fancy automatic water troughs a good test run.

They worked and she figured out how to drink from it without being “taught”. Of course, somehow, she also turned on our frost proof faucet up on the hill and overflowed an old fashioned trough. Good thing Farmer Man was paying attention. No harm done – now there is a clip through the handle to prevent further accidental water running by neighboring cows! We had an opportunity to practice our herding skill as we helped the owner shuffle her back to the right field.

We received 8 calves for spring and summer yard mowing.

Farmer Man is now in hog heaven! Well, steer heaven! We are getting a little more practiced at the cow thing because it was much less stressful this time. Now, I have no intention of becoming arrogant, we are still brand new and have a lot to learn. Still, they look pretty good out there. Now to see if I can get close enough this weekend to record their tag numbers!

We have had two proms at two different schools, and managed some time together to enjoy the getting ready process one last time.

Last baby, last prom.

I have been able to clear a spot in the otherwise “farmy” garage to begin to place all these boxes I am packing at the pretty house.

Making room for boxes

And, we have continued work on the main living area downstairs. It’s starting to open up and feel more like a place for 30 people to gather on a moment’s notice. Lots of work still to be done!

Moving some cabinets out of the kitchen
Messy progress!

Upstairs flooring is ordered and at least a plan is made for getting the bedroom areas a little less “camp like” and a little more “home”. We might be laying floor in our sleep, but it will get done somehow!

It is once again crying time at Curvy Creek Farm – we have separated the babies and the mommies, we have also fixed our three big bucks. Nobody was really happy and then we added cows. So, there is some real complaining going on out on the acres. 18 babies on one side of the fence, 18 grown goats on the other. It might be a LONG month!

God is continuing to cover me in peace about the sale of the house and in the midst of what would normally be an anxiety provoking list of things that need to be done in the next couple of weeks. He is good, and we are blessed
