When it hasn’t been raining, May has been a beautiful month!
The immediate family has been around more, which makes me smile much more! We’ve had fence days, work days, Mother’s day, and just “HELP!” days! God has blessed us with a good bunch of kids!

We continue toward our May 30th deadline with gusto! Farmer Man is almost to the end of his “no tamping” medical restriction – so the rest of us are VERY tired! 75 posts! He is able to drive the tractor, yay! As of today, all wood posts are set, all cross posting is done, most of the wire has been cut to do the cross-wiring part, and that can be done with a much smaller crew! Just a few more days of lighter work should produce 1000 ft. of fence to spec!
I need a file – A file where I place all the “goats are butt-heads” stories! That will make a book one day. It’s really difficult to keep that little title G-rated in the heat of the moment – But, I’m trying to walk right!
So, one afternoon Jim and I were up the hill just putting up a few cross posts. Not too difficult, no tamping or post-hole-digging involved. We were making marvelous progress until –

So, I’m holding the cross piece and Jim is attaching it to the posts. We have a nice work flow going and are ready to be done for the day. When suddenly, I hear jingling. I was pretty sure we were at the farm alone, so I looked up to see if someone had braved the hill to come visit – or better yet, bring an ice tea. Nope! I look up to see that sweet little goat face right there (Red) with a box full of screws, slinging his head left and right sending the screws flying everywhere! In the grass! So after clapping my hands and scolding him like a 2-year-old human, he drops the box and takes off. And we spend the next 30 minutes looking through this:

On a brighter note, it was fun to get the grands involved as we worked to get the family all ready for the partial opening by sewing masks – not too bad! Really by now, everybody is getting in on the sewing!

Mom got the un-fun part! ironing ties!
She picked it herself!
We had to cancel our beach plans, so the next big thing after finishing the fence project is preparing for Farm Week. I was REALLY looking forward to some sand and waves, but for now, we will just keep farming!
