The first hint of fall air! Oh how much happier I am when the weather cools off!
I think we can count the high tunnel as a good thing.
We have enjoyed cucumbers for weeks, still have many many tomatoes and peppers to be harvested, and we have more squash than we could possibly eat! I know it is basically just a garden right now, but it is a decently successful one.

I have always enjoyed the canning process, so that part is fun for me! I don’t think I will make my goal of canning all of our tomato needs this year, but I have put up several quarts of spaghetti sauce, not nearly enough salsa, and 24 pints of pickles.

I have experimented with pressure canning for the first time ever, not from my garden, but the sweet corn was soooo good from the farmer’s market I thought I’d try to save a bit.

I have planted some fall crops, with limited success. I am not sure what is going on there, but I’ll keep trying. We have a few things growing for fall.

Farmer man is doing cardiac rehab in an effort to regain his strength after his valve replacement. He is gaining strength, but much slower than he would like. Good days and bad days like anything else.
We have enjoyed some family time – always a joy for this Momma!

Gotcha Day

Of course we miss the folks we haven’t seen in person for a while and love them!
No fall is complete without hay day, but this one was at least short and sweet!

This is the best seat in the place!
We sold a couple of goats for pets – go us! The herd is currently at 28. About two weeks out of the year, the farm is allowed to spill over to the front of the farm – to eat down weeds and fatten up calves. Apparently the goats love us so much that they would rather sleep outside in the driveway than inside their very nice barn. This is what it looks like when 28 goats poop in the driveway! Enough is enough! Got it cleaned up and sent them back where they belong!

At least I can use it for compost
Halfway clean
The chickens unfortunately were lunch for some raccoons, and we were down to one surviving duck, now deemed – “lucky ducky”.

Lucky Ducky seemed a bit lonely, thinking she is now a goat – so we decided (what were we thinking) to buy her a few friends. Three new duckies (which Lucky Ducky is not impressed with yet) who are messy and stinky, but pretty cute. Maybe in a few weeks when they get feathers, she will warm up to them!

Lots going on at the farm – as always. I always enjoy fall on the farm, it’s my favorite!

Wonderful harvest!
