Three generation farm

When most people use the term “three generation farm” they mean the farm land has been in a family for three generations. Well, our three generation farm means that there are now three generations living on the farm that has been ours for about 5 years now.

Things are never quiet around here for long!

Inside of about 60 days we went from having a garage to having a rather nice older generation suite! Well, we are still working to complete the handicap accessible bathroom, but the room turned out quite nice!

We took a well deserved break between construction and move-in day! It was the first family beach trip since we bought the farm! We relaxed quite well before heading home to continue farming!

We went ahead and got Farmer Man’s beloved cattle. The grass was shaggy and it needed to be eaten down. It took us a while to get everything ready (lots of help), but they finally they delivered 6 head of cattle to the gates. Nice service! One boy decided that we were just not his cup of tea. Five miles away a very nice gentleman ended up buying him – nice for us! So now we have five boys on the farm eating grass. Thank goodness for those automatic water troughs I complained about putting in a couple years ago! Those are making that whole cow process much easier!

The high-tunnel is a hot mess, but it is still giving some food. There are messy tomatoes and peppers growing like crazy! One day I will have this thing all cleaned up, neat and OCD like – NOT today! Just happy that it still works when it’s ugly!

While Farmer Man is really trying hard to get back to full capacity, we are just not sure that is going to happen as quickly as he would like. So, for now it is time to for me to dust off that stethoscope, buy some new scrubs (fun!) and head back to nursing! I am actually so excited to get back to work!

It is no secret that my favorite time on the farm is in the fall and early spring. 85 degree days are quite beautiful from the safety of the air conditioning! I don’t enjoy the heat, but I do enjoy the porch in the evenings with a nice glass of iced tea!

Farmer Man’s brother Bill has been visiting quite a bit and is in love with the farm and all that it brings! The two of them are so much fun to watch together! I am pretty convinced that little boys might get older but they never actually grow up! The extra family time has been nice! Sorry, no photos!

There is never not a hay day!

Big changes are in the works around here, life is never dull! We are taking things a day at a time, trying to enjoy the process, and trust God for the next step.
