Family Farm Week!

What is more fun than 9 goats, 4 head of cattle, an ugly garden, and fencing? – Adding 20 odd people to the conversation!

I actually enjoy having a bunch of family around.  It’s noisy, it’s chaos – by now you must believe that I thrive on chaos.  I might agree.  We had an average of 20 people at the farm for an entire week.  Jim was on vacation from his day job, so he was able to relax a little bit and enjoy the farm.

We weren’t at the beach, there are not fast food stops every few miles – so we tried to be prepared.

Other than the natural entertainment of mixing preschoolers, school aged kids, teenagers, young adults, middle aged adults and (ahem) older adults we had Bocci ball, volleyball, corn hole and a soccer practice goal set up.

We had a rough meal plan for each day – and trust me – no one should have gone hungry!  And, we rented a side-by-side so the older set could get up to see the top of the acres.  But everyone enjoyed buzzing around on the side-by-side!

So much happened last week that I couldn’t tell it all if I wanted to!

I can tell you:

Within the week we had – two trips to the airport, one baby shower for our next coming grandbaby, one party for the recent graduate and the birthday girl. Lexie and Levi party

The goats were well loved and likely over fed!

We are VERY competitive at volleyball – and I have the aches and pains to prove it!  volleyball

It is impossible for this family to get together without playing several games of “panic” – and fondly recalling how Grandma Elswick loved to play, almost always won, and always seemed to have a joker in her hand – somehow.

The teenagers swear that they played B.S. and actually said B.S.  –  we will believe them for now.

My mother is far better at Bocci than I am, and looks amazing sitting on a horse!

The girls did a pretty good job setting up tents that we swore we would sleep in – but didn’t.

“Freezer pig” was very much appreciated and was quite tasty.

My sister is awesome to share her horses with the masses!

My husband was a little too fond of that rented side-by-side, and so was I!

My family is pretty amazing from making beds to cutting weeds, to bringing food in the middle of the week – I surely could not have done it without them!

There were always clothes hanging to dry, and people helping keep the towels up!hanging clothes on the line

Jeremy even managed to take 6-8 kids to soccer camp every evening through the week.

We loved having some great friends drop by just to visit!

So much help, so much fun, so much food, and soooooooooooooo tired!

Hope you have enjoyed these few pictures!  We had 21 people sleeping at the farm most of the week, up to 27 hanging around at a time, and 38 different people visiting through the week total.

Life doesn’t slow down!  Jim likes to tell me – “I told you it would be exciting, I didn’t say it would be fun!”  This past week it was both!  Loved seeing all the family, loved the few minutes all my babies and grandbabies were in the same zip code!  Now to sleep!
